An intimate evening of original music from long term collaborators Eve Simpson and Mike McKenzie. To celebrate the release of their upcoming single ‘Always Waiting’ Simpson and McKenzie are bringing their co-headline acoustic show to Green Note on Thursday 29th August. With songs of love, loss, forgiveness and gratitude these prolific songwriters will leave you in a puddle of happy-sad tears and a smile on your face.

Eve Simpson, artist and songwriter from South Shields, situates her Geordie lilts in the Celtic surroundings of Edinburgh. Supported by Youth Music and Help Musicians, Eve’s music has featured on BBC Scotland’s Track of the Week, BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, and received editorial support on Soundcloud’s Hot UK Pop. Eve gigs extensively throughout the UK, featuring at Edinburgh Hogmanay, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Celtic Connections, and selling out headlines from Edinburgh to London. Eve’s writing has seen her collaborate with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Kathryn Tickell, and The Lake Poets, as well as scoring the North East segment of a FOCAL International award-winning film.

Mike McKenzie

Mike McKenzie is an award winning singer/songwriter based in Edinburgh. McKenzie’s heartfelt lyrics and melodies are always front and centre in his writing. Reminiscent of Luke Sital-Singh, Ben Abraham and David Gray, his music has been described as “Gorgeous” by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 and received huge support from Grant Stott, Janice Forsyth and Roddy Hart on BBC Radio Scotland, recently performing live on “The Quay Sessions” alongside Rianne Downie. Outside of his solo work, Mike is the lead vocalist for collaborative trio ‘PJ Moore & Co.’ alongside legendary synth player PJ Moore (The Blue Nile) and award winning Composer/Producer Malcolm Lindsay.

Doors open 7.30pm. Music starts 8pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited, and available on a first come first served basis, so if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
