The abundantly talented Irish singer songwriter JACK LUKEMAN is to release a brand new eleven track album, entitled ‘ECHO ON’, on the Dolphin Records label on FRIDAY, 30th JUNE 2023.
‘ECHO ON’ is the work of a mature and confident writer – the eleven original songs mix a contrasting range of musical styles, lyrically intriguing, with Lukeman’s rich, melodic vocals – a voice of quality and distinction – leading the line with customary aplomb. The title track opens with a delicately picked acoustic guitar before Lukeman intones a lyric of mystery and imagination; strands of Traditional Folk run through the likes of ‘Battle of the Hawthorn Trees’, whilst a Byrds-like electric twelve string adds rich jingle jangle to the jaunty ‘Sundogs In The Moonshine’. Song arrangements are perfectly poised settings over which Lukeman can do his thing; ‘The Winterling’ is a majestic example of this, one man and his guitar shored up by atmospheric strings to enhance the simple melody with great grace. Each new play reveals yet more surprises; ‘ECHO ON’ is a richly-rewarding, shape shifting work that enthrals and inspires in equal measure, and offers up more proof of Jack Lukeman’s gift for strong melody and lyrical acuity.
JACK LUKEMAN has been methodically building a loyal following in the last few years through frequent touring, as a headliner or as opening act for artists as varied as U2, JOOLS HOLLAND, IMELDA MAY, NEIL SEDAKA, THE PROCLAIMERS, MARIANNE FAITHFULL, ELVIS COSTELLO and many others. His captivating onstage presence, and powerful, impassioned vocal style make for an impressive performance, and whether it’s his own incisive songs or his personalised interpretations of material from the likes of LEONARD COHEN, AMY WINEHOUSE, BOB DYLAN and DAVID BOWIE, Lukeman’s consummate artistry shines through.
