SAM DUNN & JAMIE TAYLOR: Sam Dunn and Jamie Taylor are two of the UK’s leading lights in jazz guitar. This year sees them celebrate twenty five years of making music together, playing inventive, conversational and swinging jazz guitar duets.
Jamie has worked with many leading American and European musicians such as Baptiste Herbin, John Stowell, Sheryl Bailey, Steve Fishwick, and Alan Barnes, amongst many others. An engaging performer in the tradition, Jamie’s distinctive style mixes the swinging lyricism of Lester Young with the fiery bebop phrasing of players like Tal Farlow and Barney Kessel.
Sam Dunn is a widely respected and versatile jazz guitarist, whose lyrical playing has seen him perform at clubs, concert halls and festivals around the world. He is a regular performer at London’s Ronnie Scott’s, and has also recently played at the Royal Albert Hall, the 606, the Royal Festival Hall, the Vortex and many other jazz clubs across the UK and beyond. Sam has toured Australia with Grammy nominated US pianist and singer Judy Carmichael, and recently performed with his trio in Valencia, Spain. He is a member of The Hot Club of Jupiter, Draw by Four, The Clock Winders, The Karen Street Quartet, and other UK bands. Sam is also the jazz guitar teacher at the Purcell School, where he helps talented young musicians develop their skills.
