2023 wasn’t the easiest year for us, nor for many other music venues in the grassroots sector, some of which didn’t make it through the year. There were 960 Grassroots Music Venues in 2022, but that number dropped by 125 last year!  We’re facing lots of challenges at the moment – rising energy and supplier costs plus many other overheads – it’s not always easy to keep things going. However, we do believe that live music and venues such as our’s make a huge difference to people’s lives and to the community. Music is powerful and brings joy, comfort, inspiration, hope and so much more… Grassroots Music Venues are an essential part of the music ecosystem – it’s where up-and-coming musicians hone their craft and begin their careers, they provide a home away from home for touring musicians, they expose audiences to new music, they foster a supportive environment where creativity can grow, and not least, they provide a home for a community of music lovers to come together for a shared experience… We believe in the importance of what we’ve created with Green Note and we know many of you share our vision also!
