MATT HOLBORN: Join London-based jazz violinist Matt Holborn and his trio for a night of swing and straight-ahead jazz. He will be playing selections form his upcoming album “For Stuff” as well as choice jazz standards.
“For Stuff”, is a musical tribute to the unsung grandfather of jazz violin, Stuff Smith—a true pioneer whose unmistakable swing and inventive approach have left a lasting impact on jazz violin. With “For Stuff”, Matt set out to write music that swings and treats the violin in the same spirit as Stuff did, allowing the instrument to speak naturally and authentically inside the realms of jazz.
The trio tonight features Fraser Urquhart on piano and Simon Read on bass. Expect an evening of fresh compositions, swinging jazz standards, and nods to Stuff’s own work, all delivered with collective spirit and energy.
Doors open 7.30pm. Music starts 8pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited, and available on a first come first served basis, so if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
