SOFIA GRANT is a composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist from London. She trained classically on piano and saxophone from a young age, and began performing as a singer-songwriter aged 14.
She lived in Barcelona for 3 years, honing her craft as a performer and songwriter on the improvised music scene. Back in her hometown of London, she has now amassed performance experience working as a session musician for rising stars of the London jazz scene, including Poppy Ajudha, PYJAEN and Donna Thompson in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Alexandra Palace and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
She founded Higher Ground Jam Session in 2018, with an aim to create a safe space for performers of all types to experiment freely through music – which has been featured on Jazz FM.
Sofia’s debut single ‘Storm’ received radio play on Jazz FM, Worldwide FM and Soho Radio. Her debut EP, a body of work about climate collapse and nature loss, is due to be released this year. A response to the idea of extinction, it blends jazz and folk stylings and celebrates powerful vocal harmonies at its core.
Doors open 7pm. Music starts 8.30pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited and available on a first come first served basis so, if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
